What it is
A binaural beats app plays two slightly different tones in each ear — for example, 200 Hz in the left and 207 Hz in the right. Your brain perceives the 7 Hz difference, a phenomenon called brainwave entrainment, and your cortical rhythms tend to follow. Binaural beats have been studied since 1839 and are used for meditation, focus, sleep, and altered states.
The five bands
- Delta (0.5 – 4 Hz): Deep sleep, healing, unconscious processing.
- Theta (4 – 8 Hz): Meditation, dream state, creativity, hypnagogia.
- Alpha (8 – 13 Hz): Relaxed awareness, learning, flow.
- Beta (13 – 30 Hz): Active thinking, focus, problem-solving.

Hemi-Sync is a proprietary technique developed by the Monroe Institute in the 1970s that uses layered binaural patterns. HYVE Tribe's Hemi-Sync Gateway is an original, freely available implementation inspired by this tradition and is not affiliated with the Monroe Institute.

From the Games menu, open Hemi-Sync Gateway. Read the short calibration guide.

Binaural beats require headphones to work. Wired or Bluetooth both function.

Pick a band
Choose Delta for sleep, Theta for meditation, Alpha for flow, Beta for focus, Gamma for insight.

Set length and drift
Pick a session length (10, 20, 30, or 60 minutes) and decide whether to drift within the band.

When the session ends, log a short note in the journal. This feeds your tier progression.
